Cornelie Tollens
TAKE ME fashion photographs
"TAKE ME"
When a photographer successfully meets the many demands of different clients, we either have someone who is as versatile as a chameleon, or who has a knack for appropriately paraphrasing his or her signature style. Cornelie Tollens belongs to this second group. Tapping into her
substantial repertoire as regards both to form and content, the Dutch
photographer declines her motifs with variation and suprise. The goal:
the printed image must catch the eye - be it on the page of the latest
glossies or mounted on the museum wall. Tollens toys with her beholders, she stimulates and seduces us. Beyond this is the incessant play between the sexes, between exhibitionism and voyeurism, between hide and reveal. Either we join in on this game of pleasure, or - be it just for a moment - we try to resist.
